Some Quick Questions Answered:
Where and how do I sign-up for trips?
- You can sign-up for trips two weeks in advance (the Wednesday before the pre-trip) at 8:00pm on Wednesday at the Lindsay Auditorium in Sturm Hall. If you cannot make the meeting then contact the trip leader ASAP. You will also be notified of when to sign-up through our weekly email.
How do I pay for Trips?
- By paying with a check or cash at trip sign-ups you secure your spot on the trip.
Who goes on trips?
- Trips are open to all DU students and faculty, however almost everyone that goes are undergrad students from all different backgrounds looking to experience some incredible adventures, meet new people, and have one hell of a good time.
What is a Pre-Trip?
- A pre-trip occurs the Wednesday before the trip and is where the trip leaders talk about what kind of conditions to expect, inform you of what to bring, and finalize any last details.
What happens if I don't go to the Pre-Trip?
- You must be present for all pre-trips and sign-ups, if you cannot make these meetings then contact the trip leaders ASAP. By not showing-up (especially for our popular trips) you forfeit your spot and lose that chance to go.
I suddenly can't go, can I get a refund?
- University policy does not allow us to issue refunds, however you can try to sell your spot to other willing DUAC'ers.
Is there a limit to the number of people that go on a trip?
- The officers spend a lot of time trying to figure out the number of people that can go on a trip. We try to accommodate to the best of our ability and bring as many willing people as possible, however sometimes we do have limits and then a lottery system will be in effect. We may also close the trip sign-ups after the first sign-up meeting if there is a large attraction.
What do I need to go on a Trip?
- Not much, the Alpine Club has most of the gear that you will need such as backpacks, sleeping bags, and tents. You will need to provide clothing for yourself, i.e. jackets, snowpants, etc. otherwise check out the "trip overviews" to find out more.
What about Safety on Trips?
- The Alpine Club holds a very good record and we plan on keeping that record. All of our trips are very safe and are lead by the club officers who spend a great deal of time in the wilderness. Most of the officers have first aid and emergency preparedness training and all of our drivers go through defensive driving courses. We always practice safe measures and keep plenty of first aid and other safety materials with us.
