Climbing Trips
Rock and Ice
Each year we have multiple climbing trips from guided multipitch in Eldorado, to ice climbing in Ouray to sport climbing at Moab's "wall street".
Almost every trip is suited from the beginner to the more advanced climbers. Many people climbed their first routes on club trips and then fell in love with the sport. It is really easy to get started and the officers are here to help teach you.
What Happens on the Trip?
Trips usually are one or two nights and we try to go to several unique spots each year. We camp in the local campgrounds, climb during the day, and have fun at night usually around a campfire.
Alpine Club provides ropes, quickdraws, harnesses, shoes, helmets, and belay devices. We recommend that people with their own ropes and quickdraws leave them at home. Also we provide anything that you would need to camp out in such as tents, sleeping bags, pads. Food is usually provided if we are camping.
The mountains bring in all types of weather so pack warm and also keep some clothes that you can easily stretch out in when it is really warm out.
Ice-climbing in Ouray is usually only one day where guides take us into the infamous Ouray Ice Park. This is paired-up with the Telluride ski-trip during winter quarter and we stay in a hotel.
Favorite Spots
For guided trips we sometimes do Multipitch traditional climbing in Eldorado canyon near Boulder.
Shelf Road, Penitente canyon, and Moab's "Wall-street" have all provided many good times for DUAC members.
Local Spots
Good close sport climbing at Clear Creek Canyon, Table Mountain, Boulder Canyon and Castlewood Canyon.
Amazing trad climbing at Eldorado Canyon and good Bouldering at Morrison, Castlewood Canyon, and Clear Creek.
