Oh, the endless possibilities of the winter time! Skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, snowshoeing…avalanches!?! Make sure that that last one doesn’t catch you off guard! DUAC has only a couple spots left for our Avalanche 1 Training and Certification course. Offered only once every two or three years, you really can’t afford to miss out! The training takes place in Estes Park and goes from Friday the 30th to Sunday, February 1st. A ride, a place to stay and the course are all included.
What’s after Avy 1??? You’ve asked for it, we’ve delivered the goods; Winter Carnival, DUAC style. Whether you’ve missed the deadline for tickets or just didn’t know how cool Winter Carnival would actually be, make sure you don’t miss out. Snag the deals that DUPB has gotten you and chill in Winter Park in a sick condo DUAC has rented out for a killer weekend. A ride, ski passes, and a place to stay are part of the deal.
Scratching off other weekend activities yet? Good. Snag a spot in either trip (or both!) this Wednesday, the 28th at 8pm in Sturm Hall, room 281 (Lindsey Auditorium.)
Got questions? No worries. Chris.manning@du.edu is your source of knowledge.

Let’s be honest- there are a lot of things you shouldn’t do unprotected…Going up to the mountains is one of them!
If you’re spending quality time in the snow, spend some time in an Avy 1 class! Get certified for this essential training while spending time in beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park! The certification lasts as long as you live- and lets be honest, you might live longer if you take the class!
Sign ups are this Wednesday, the 21st at 8 pm in Sturm Hall, room 281 (hint; it’s Lindsey Auditorium)! You can also sign up to be a member and find out more about our other super rad trips this winter!

First off- a huge congrats to everyone that came along on the Kathryn Ellington Beginner’s trip. It’s been said that it was seriously good times!
And up next- Crested Butte! If you’ve signed up for this super rad trip, make sure you get yourself to the meeting tonight or you will miss out! If you haven’t signed up (what were you thinking?!), there a few spots left so scurry on over to the meeting and make sure nobody else gets your spot first!
And then…well..we hate to say it. We really, really do. But there’s no more sign ups for X Games in Aspen. We want to get you guys the best deal ever, but just couldn’t make it happen, so the trip is postponed until…next winter. The bad economy hits even skiiers…sad, we know.
So stay tuned to learn more about the next trips! Next week will be Avy1 sign ups! In the backcountry lately? Don’t be caught unprepared. You’re not SurvivorMan. Avy1 could make a real bad situation a good story instead of…well, you get the idea! Don’t miss out!

First up: A beginner ski/ride trip including a lesson, rentals and a mountain pass…for the price of $30…we’re not sure if that price is good for us, but it is most definitely good for you! What are you waiting for!?
Next: Crested Butte…hit some serious slopes and some tough terrain…if you’ve got the skills, do you really have to think about this?
To find out all about the trips and how to get on deck, do not miss our first meeting of the year! It’s tomorrow, Wednesday, the 7th at 8 pm in Sturm Hall, Lindsey Auditorium (rm 281.)
