What: Alpine Club officers are the cool kids that you see running all the meetings, events, and trips that all of you crazy kids love. We plan and execute everything and have a ton of fun along the way.
Why: We love the outdoors and we want to share the awesome experiences that we have with as many people as possible. We push the limits of our outdoor abilities and of the club. As an officer you are part of the single largest club on-campus which gives you insight into how the campus works, how to manage a lot of money, and how to be a leader. It’s a hell of a journey and the experiences you will have are unbelievable.
Experience: What we look for in officers are people that are willing to work hard and have a passion for the outdoors. You do not have to be an expert in anything and many of our officers did not become really good at the activities that love now until after they became officers. If you are good at something or just want to help out, don’t be worried about you previous outdoor experience, if anything we will teach you.
The Job: First off you are an officer so you plan and lead at least one trip a quarter with another co-leader;basically doing all the planning and executing of the trip. In addition you have job responsibilities that you take care of as well. We have the philosophy of “Work Hard, Play Hard” and we have as much fun with our jobs as possible. Overall as an officer you get the opportunity to be exposed to hundreds of students each year while learning a lot about the outdoors.
Interested?: Contact the current president, Andy at alibrand@du.edu or show-up to one of our officer meetings. Officer meetings are held at Mondays at 8:00pm in the Tennis Tower (the random tower thing next to the tennis courts). Either contact us or show-up to get further details.
Elections: Main elections will be held in the first week of March, so if you are interested you need to contact us soon.
Enjoy the fresh snow!!!
